At the St Paul Farmers' Market

We are at the St. Paul Farmers' Market downtown location on Sundays from the last weekend in April through the beginning of July. Sunday Market hours are 8 am to 1 pm. The Vagary stall is located near the top (north) end of the center shed. Look for the big gray truck with two red stripes.

As a small family-owned business we stay competitive by keeing our business expenses low. We have chosen to avoid the additional expense of accepting "plastic" money. We accept cash or personal checks for payment. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS. There are several Instant Cash machines located near the market.


Our Market is known as one of the best and most authentic markets in the country. In addition to an excellent selection of plants you can find locally grown produce in season and an assortment of locally produced specialty products.

If you are looking for a particular plant or group of plants from our Plant List you are welcome to contact us via email at to inquire about availability. We will be happy to respond to a special request and hold the plants for you at market on the day you plan to pick them up. We pride ourselves in providing personal service. However, because we are quite busy preparing for Sunday market on Saturday, we will need to hear from you by Friday to be able to respond for the coming Sunday.

Event Sales at Our Home

We do not operate a retail store at home. However, we do have a sale at our home each spring, and often have other event sales later in the year.

Our 2011 Spring Sale was on Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22. Our 2011 End-of-Season sale was on Saturday and Sunday, August 27-28. Information on our 2012 home sales will be available later this spring.

A drive to the Vagary takes less than 40 minutes from downtown St Paul and makes for an enjoyable excursion. Shopping one of our home sales also lets you meet and share ideas with like-minded fellow gardeners. Our Spring Sale offers the widest variety of plants available from us during the peak planting season and attractive discount pricing.

We accept cash or personal checks for payment at our Spring Sale and other event sales at our home. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS.

Special Orders

We do not sell plants on the Internet or deliver plants by mail. We enjoy meeting our customers in person, at the St Paul Farmers Market or at our home at event sales.

Larger quantities of plants can be purchased as a special order. Although availability in early spring is often good, filling special orders becomes difficult as the season progresses unless arrangements are made early in the season. We encourage you to contact us during the winter or early spring if you are interested in buying larger quantities of plants.

Special orders can be picked up at our home or delivered to the St. Paul Farmers Market on a pre-arranged market day for customer pickup. In some cases delivery to the customer’s location can be arranged.
